plant based health

“A plant based diet is the only diet known to prevent and even reverse disease”

the china study

One of the world’s largest comprehensive nutritional studies ever undertaken is called The China Study, which was performed by nutritional biochemist T. Colin Campbell with researchers at Oxford University and the Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine. This study founded that animal protein promotes the growth of cancer, whilst whole plant based foods can fight of cancer cells. Animal products are high in saturated fats and cholesterol which can result in illnesses such as heart disease, diabetes and other chronic diseases. A whole food plant based diet can significantly reduce your risk of disease, and has even reversed illnesses such as heart disease; which is humanities largest killer.

Vegan Bodybuilder, Brian Turner

There are a wide variety of vegan and plant based athletes who have discovered an increase in performance, health and recovery by going vegan.

Tash has a degree in Outdoor Recreation and is an experienced surfer, she was astounded by the increase in her fitness levels and strength within weeks of going vegan.

Watch this incredible film which shows vegan athletes and demolishes the myth that plants don’t have protein.

resources

There are a number of excellent resources and documentaries to gain more knowledge about the truth of nutrition. Unfortunately, the health and education systems are heavily influenced by misleading information created by the meat, dairy and egg industries to make people believe that they require animal products for health. Many research studies have also been funded by animal agriculture which will use misleading information to make people believe that animal products are healthy and a vegan diet is dangerous. In fact, a plant based diet is healthier and contains all essential nutrients that the human body requires; yes that includes protein and iron!

Some great documentaries that can be found on Netflix and YouTube are ‘What the Health’, ‘The Game Changers’, ‘Forks over Knives’ and ‘Food Choices’ (this one made me go vegan!).

Tash personally eats a mostly whole food plant based diet and follows Michael Greger, M.D. who has free nutrition information on Nutrition Facts and nutritionist Simon Hill on Plant Proof where you can find information and recipes.
